Our community woodland.
Teucheen Wood is long-established woodland of plantation origin and has been standing since at least 1860. At 5.85 hectares it forms a considerable backdrop to the village of Inchinnan and is cherished by the local community.
Driven by the concerns raised by residents, Inchinnan Development Trust finalised the private purchase of Teucheen Wood in December 2021 to allow for community ownership and management. The previous owners of the woodland proposed to sell on the open market, following engagement from Inchinnan Community Council the woodland was removed from sale and the process to purchase the woodland began.
We are passionate about protecting this woodland and exploring the wealth of opportunity it provides for Inchinnan and its wider communities. Currently we are in the process of developing a woodland management plan, with initial works focussing on improvements to accessibility and safety in the woodland through path creation and clearance.
If you’re planning on visiting the woodland for group activities or outdoor learning, please get in touch and we can advise you on the safest way to make use of our woodland. Contact us via our online form or through email at Maggie-IDT@outlook.com
Future plans will look to explore the educational and recreation potential of the woodland in an effort to further engage the community through volunteer work, outdoor learning, woodland workshops and health-focussed walking sessions.
